"Wir müssen stolz darauf sein, was wir alle dieses Jahr geschafft haben", so Pol Espagraro zum Saisonende. "Insgesamt hatten wir ein gutes Jahr, wir waren in der Endabrechnung viel besser, als wir erwartet haben, die Fortschritte waren dieses Jahr einfach unglaublich. Niemand hat das erwartet, darum bin ich stolz auf die Jungs hier an der Strecke und im Werk in Österreich, die unser Motorrad entwickeln. Das ist für uns alle wichtig."
Auch vom Test war er begeistert. "Super-Positiv. Ich bin super-happy und das Team ist zufrieden, denn wir haben große Fortschritte gemacht, bei Rhythmus, Grip und einlenken. Darauf haben wir uns konzentriert und dass das Motorrad insgesamt besser wird. Mit dem neuen Chassis und den Teilen hinten fühlt es sich gut an und der Rhythmus war wirklich richtig unglaublich. Wir konnten in Valencia nicht nach mehr fragen, wir müssen das in Jerez bestätigen."
"Wir haben Felgen, Schwingen, Chassis, Elektronik getestet. Und es waren auch viele neue Jungs hier, viele neue, junge, talentierte Jungs, die uns ihre Erfahrungen mitgebracht haben. Wir müssen alle ein wenig mehr zusammenarbeiten. Die Fortschritte aber waren hier in Valencia unglaublich, ich denke es ist alles mehr als vielversprechend."
Auch Smith sah das ähnlich. "Diese zwei Testtage waren wirklich wichtig, um viel neue Hardware zu probieren. Wir sind nicht viele Runden gefahren, denn es dauert, bis jedes Teil verbaut und angepasst ist. Das Hauptziel war, eine richtige Richtung einzuschlagen, besonders hinten, wo wir auf der Suche nach mehr Grip sind. Die zweiten Rennhälften waren nicht gerade unsere Stärke, darum haben wir uns auf gebrauchte Reifen konzentriert. Pol und ich hatten unterschiedliche Programme am ersten Tag, am zweiten haben wir das rumgedreht. Ich denke, dass die neuen Teile ein Schritt nach vorn waren, aber wir wollen mehr und in die Top-Ten fahren. Es ist beeindrucken, was dieses Unternehmen in kürzester Zeit geleistet hat."
Smith also had good things to say – following another top finish in eleventh in the race, and ending the test much further forward than the same time last year: “This two day test was really important to try a lot of hardware. We didn’t do a lot of laps because each part takes so long to mount and fit. Mike Leitner, KTM Motorsport On-Road Vice President, explained the test for the Austrian marque – with even more positivity as the future seems to get brighter and brighter: “The focus of the test was quite simple.
