MotoGP™ could be heading to Finland

According to Finnish media, the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship could be visiting the still under-construction Kymi Ring in the near future.

The circuit, which is being built in the town of Iitti, was recently visited by Dorna Sports Managing Director for Events Javier Alonso having passed the first steps of track homologation for both the FIA and FIM. Alonso said he was “impressed” by what he had seen so far, but mentioned that it was “just the beginning of a long process”. The project has the full support of the Finnish Olympic Committee, and with work on the circuit yet to begin the Chairman of Kymi Ring Ltd Mr. Kari Solberg said that the task ahead represented “a huge challenge, but also an incredible opportunity”.
