Nasty fall for 125cc rookie Raul Jara in Jerez test

MotoGP newcomer Raul Jara suffered the worst luck out of all the riders present at the second day of IRTA tests in Jerez today. The Spaniard fell early in the afternoon, dislocating two vertebrae - an injury which, according to doctors at the scene, will keep the youngster out of action for between six and eight weeks.

´The injury is quite serious and the recovery time could take up to a month and a half. We´ve already started working to get him right and, depending on how strong he is and whether or not he responds to the treatment, I don´t see why he shouldn´t be fit for the first race in Suzuka at the beginning of April´, commented Doctor Claudio Costa.

At the time of the accident, Jara, runner-up in last year’s Spanish 125cc Championship, was one of the 10 fastest riders of the day, clocking a best lap of 1.50.352 on his Aprilia.
