Youichi Ui top of the pile again in Estoril final day of 125 test

The second day of 125 testing in Estoril was held under poor weather conditions. The strong wind blowing from the Sintra mountains proved to be a real problem for the riders taking part in the last day of IRTA testing in the Fernanda Pires da Silva racetrack. The best lap time was again set by Derbi´s Youichi Ui, who improved his Sunday lap time and set a final best of 1:47:672.

Ui was very happy with his performance: ´I´ve been able to set my best lap with the new chassis we´re testing for this upcoming season, whilst yesterday I did so with last year´s chassis.´

The day´s second best lap time was for Czech rider Jaroslav Hules, riding on a Matteoni Honda machine. Jarno Müller (Honda Adac Sachsen) was third.Gino Borsoi was the only crasher of the day and hit his arm badly, although a scan in the Mobile Clinic revealed no fracture.

The wind was followed by a slight shower at the end of the morning session and most of the riders decided not to test during the afternoon as the track was still wet. Only Alex de Angelis and Jaroslav Hules defied the weather and lapped until the end of the session.

Gilera made its official debut today with Manuel Poggiali riding the new machine with its distinctive red colours.

The 125 teams will now travel to Valencia where they will be testing on Thursday and Friday.

Overall lap times:
Youichi Ui 1:47.672
