Toni Elias consistent in 125 first free practice

Toni Elias consistent in 125 first free practice

Spanish youngster Toni Elias not only set the quickest time of this morning´s first free practice session at the French circuit of Le Mans, but lapped consistently quick times throughout the 45 minutes period to send out a warning shot to his rivals in the 125 class. 18 year old Elias has shown signs of promise in the first three races of the Championship, often heading off at the front of the pack before dropping back down the field. However, if he can show the consistency he has demonstrated this morning, he is sure to be a serious contender for this weekend´s Grand Prix Polini de France.

The usual suspects made up the top of the time sheets, with Arnaud Vincent adding his name to the list of contenders for victory at his home track. Youichi Ui, Nobby Ueda, Manuel Poggiali, Gino Borsoi and Mirko Giansanti all set fast laps, but only Vincent and Italian Lucio Cecchinello matched Elias in terms of regularity.

Conditions were slightly damp as the morning sun has still failed to break through the grey clouds hanging over Le Mans.
