Junior riders on the right track in 125cc Free Practice Two

Telefonica Movistar Honda Junior team once again showed that they mean business in Catalunya, as they warmed up in today´s 125cc second free practice session. Toni Elias is beginning to show consistency in his riding, and proved that this morning, setting a fastest lap which was over half a second quicker than anybody else. His young teammate Joan Olive set the third fastest time of a session which saw championship one and two, Gino Borsoi and Masao Azuma, languishing in 16th and 17th fastest respectively.

The sun is beating down here this morning in Montmeló, and the local boys showed their familiarity with the conditions. Elias´ time of 1:52.001 will more than likely be bettered this afternoon, but will back up the confidence that the young rider has been showing since his third place in Le Mans. Team Boss Alberto Puig will hope the form can continue and that Elias will continue to be an inspiration to Olive and Pedrosa, who are showing their potential here in Catalunya. Behind Elias is current provisional pole Lucio Cecchinello, who set his fastest lap at the same time as Elias as they went round the track together.

There were a few surprises in terms of setting times, as Ui, who spent a long time in the pits was 9th fastest, Mugello winner Ueda 13th and the championship leaders. The biggest fall was from Eric Bataille, who suffered a spectacular highside. He received medical attention at trackside, but early indications are that he has severe bruising of his back.
