McCoy out of Dutch TT and doubtful for Donington

McCoy out of Dutch TT and doubtful for Donington

Garry McCoy has decided not to lap in this morning´s second free practice for the 500 class and has withdrawn from the Gauloises Dutch TT at Assen. The Red Bull Yamaha rider continues his recovery from a broken scaphoid but, despite gaining some lap time in yesterday´s first session, felt he was not fit enough to race and is almost certainly out of next week´s Cinzano British Grand Prix at Donington.

´I´m not 100% and unless I am fully fit there is no point racing this weekend,´ said the Australian. ´I decided to not even try riding this morning because after yesterday´s session I just didn´t feel up to it. Donington is in a week´s time and I think that will be too soon. I can´t see the injury improving enough in such a short space of time so it´s more than likely that I will go home, get some proper rest and try and be fit in time for Germany in three weeks time.´

McCoy will now definitely miss his fourth race of the season and possibly his fifth, ending any slim hopes he had of staying in the 500cc title chase.
