Harada takes second win of season to close gap on Katoh

Tetsuya Harada won his second race of the season to close the gap on Daijiro Katoh to 32 points in the Championship standings, as Marco Melandri sealed an Aprilia one-two to relegate the Honda rider to third. Harada started from pole position and despite losing the holeshot to Katoh he was back in front on the second lap and never looked back, stretching out a comfortable three second lead. Jeremy McWilliams crashed out on the same lap to leave Katoh and Melandri to scrap it out all the way to the line, with the Italian youngster edging ahead on the last lap and holding on to take second spot by 0.054.

Some way behind the battle for fourth place eventually gathered pace as Fonsi Nieto was pulled back by a group consisting of Alzamora, de Puniet, Matsudo, Rolfo and Porto. Nieto held firm to secure his best ever result, as Rolfo took fifth ahead of de Puniet and Alzamora in that order.

Yuzy and Catska both crashed out of the race, but fortunately both riders escaped unhurt.
