Aprilia 125cc rider reactions

Simone Sanna # 16 (Safilo Oxydo Race) Fourth place does not satisfy him, but left him quite angry instead. This is the feeling of the rider from Borgo San Lorenzo in Tuscany after the Portuguese race. The reason was that he had a clutch problem and he wasn´t able to stay with the front runners and to battle with the young Championship leader Spaniard Elias.

´In the last lap he passed me because I could not pull the clutch in any more, otherwise I am sure that I would have beaten him. At about mid-race, when I started to catch up with the front runners, the lever got harder and harder to pull. I had to slow a bit because to change gear is more difficult under such circumstances, and you have to be more careful, too: If something happens to the engine or the gearbox, the clutch normally can save you from a blocked rear wheel. At the end, I was tired and couldn´t pull the clutch any more. It´s a shame, because probably, if everything had worked out better, I could have stayed with the leaders and fight for victory.»

Lucio Cecchinello # 9 (MS Aprilia LCR) An incomprehendible loss of grip of the front tyre in the second lap made Lucio Cecchinello crash. A shame, but that´s racing. The Italian got back up and continued to finish in 16th position.

´It was the second lap, I hadn´t had a bad start, when the front wheel lost grip all of a sudden without any warning. A strange thing because it had always worked well in practice, and we never had such a problem. I don’t think that the tyre wasn´t warm enough, instead there must have been something on the track, because Olivé crashed immediately after me at the same spot. I don´t remember that anybody touched me, therefore I believe that the crashes happened independently.´

Max Sabbatani # 11 (Bossini Fontana Racing) Nineth plca doesn’t satisfy an ambitious rider like the one from Emilia Romagna, who dropped back when his standard Dunlop tyres faded.

´In the beginning of the race I can defend myself very well as the tyres work great, but towards the end of the race, the difference to the official tyres of the others is tto big because the standard ones just last less.´

Gino Borsoi # 23 (LAE UGT 3000) Borsoi suffered like a dog considering his physical condition that still stem from his crash in Brno, but in the end, he brought the point home that you are awarded with in 15th position.

´What a shame that I lost the opportunity to take two points, but I was exhausted in the end and messed up the entry of the last turn. It´s a shame also that I wasn´t fit because the bike went really well and fast, which means that I could have taken a good result. But it´s still all right like that, one point is at least a ´grazie´ to the guys of my team, to Aprilia and the team of the Clinica Mobile that helped me a lot.´
