Harada quickest 250 rider in rain

Harada quickest 250 rider in rain

Tetsuya Harada sent ripples of discontent through Daijiro Katoh´s garage today with the fastest time at a rain soaked Phillip Island, the Championship leader fifteenth fastest in the first free practice for the quarter litre class. Katoh is known struggling in wet conditions despite his blistering pace in the dry, and with Harada just 24 points behind him in the Championship standings he will be desperate for a change in the meteorological outlook over the weekend.

Also looking good on the slippery Australian track were the Spanish pairing of David Checa and Emilio Alzamora, whilst Sylvain Guintoli looked in full control of the session with some very fast laps until a fall denied him the chance of making some good times later in the session.

Marco Melandri completed two laps despite great pain in his hand and chest. The Italian youngster was hurt in a crash with Katoh in Japan last week and is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
