Jorge Lorenzo breaks collarbone and wrist in Catalunya

Spanish youngster Jorge Lorenzo's preparations for his first ever World Championship were cut short on Thursday at the Circuito de Catalunya. The 14 year old Derbi rider fell in private tests at the Barcelona circuit, breaking his collarbone and wrist.

Lorenzo fell when lapping behind Lucio Cecchinello. The Aprilia of the Italian veteran was leaking oil from the clutch and the youngster was unable to avoid slipping and crashing spectacularly.

Derbi will now only have one rider available for the official IRTA tests at the same track on the 11th and 12th March. Youichi Ui will lap alone as the 125 machines take to the track for the last official test ahead of the new season.

Jorge Lorenzo will be fit to make his debut on schedule, however, since he does not make the minimum age of fifteen until the third race of the season at Jerez.
