Hector Barbera officially presented as Team Aspar rider in Valencia

The Team Aspar set-up officially confirmed this week, at the Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, that Hector Barbera will ride for them this season. At just 15 years of age the young talent, who will race in the 125cc category, will become the youngest Valencian ever to have competed at world level.

Team Manager, Jorge Martínez, was quick to stress during the presentation ceremony that, ´..nobody has gifted him anything, he´s earnt this chance himself. We´re hoping that this can be the first step towards producing a Valencian World Champion.´

Aspar went on to add, ´Currently about 60% of Spanish riders on the starting grids are from Valencia, and this year we´ll line up in the World Championships with five riders for the first time in the history of Valencian riding.´

Barbera revealed his delight at this next step in his career, ´It´s a dream to be competing in the World Championships and to be involved with the best riders. It´s a very high standard and we´re going to have to take things one step at a time. My main focus is the Spanish Championship, and then to pick up experience at the Grand Prix.´
