- Daniel Pedrosa starts from pole position for the first time in his Grand Prix career.
- Pedrosa is also the second youngest rider ever to start from pole position. Only Marco Melandri has started from pole at a younger age.
- Pablo Nieto´s second place on the grid is his best ever qualifying result in GP racing. His previous best was third place on the grid in Valencia in 1999.
