Rain less of a concern for Gresini in 2002

Rain less of a concern for Gresini in 2002

Team owner Fausto Gresini, who supervises the talent of Daijiro Katoh in MotoGP and Emilio Alzamora and Roby Rolfo in 250, has less reason for concern in the half-litre class when the clouds burst like they did in Suzuka at the weekend. Last year the Italian knew that rain was synonymous with a bad result thanks to Katoh's poor record in wet conditions.

Katoh took the 250 title comfortably and, aside from his crash at Motegi, the only two black marks on his season were in rain at Mugello and Assen. In Italy the Japanese rider finished tenth and in Holland he was eleventh.

On Sunday Gresini saw Alzamora cross the line in fourth and Rolfo come in eighth, the Spaniard with two wildcards in front of him and the Italian with three. ´We scored some golden points which will be great for the campaign,´ said the former rider. `Just to cross the line at Suzuka was an important challenge and my riders completed it with the sort of spirit which gives me lots of confidence with respect to the rest of the season.´
