New Mobile Clinic makes debut in Jerez

The Mobile Clinic has been providing medical attention and emergency assistance to motorcycle racing since 1977 and the fifth generation of the portable surgery makes its debut in Jerez this weekend. Mounted on a Pezzaioli half-trailer, the new Clinic measures 13.56m x 2.52m and is widened on both sides by 13.56m x 1.14m extensions. The new Clinic features an entrance, waiting room, treatment and physiotherapy room, first aid room, trauma care and X-ray room, X-ray control and work files room.

Eight beds have been installed in the hi-tech portable hospital, with state of the art equipment such as laser units and shock-wave machines which have a beneficial effect on injuries caused by motorcycle racing. Since 1997 the Mobile Clinic has been open 24 hours a day to the whole MotoGP paddock and provides treatment to journalists, mechanics, specialised personnel, team managers, workmen, organisers and craftsmen. However, with around 500 crash victims to deal with every year, there is no doubt that their most regular customers are the riders!
