Melandri working hard to be fit for Le Mans

Since his fall on the last lap in Jerez, Marco Melandri has spent most of his time trying to fully recover from the injury he suffered at the Andalusian circuit. The Aprilia rider received a slight fracture of a bone in his left ankle which has yet to still fully heal. Melandri has been regularly visiting Doctor Costa, who heads up the Mobile Clinic unit which travels with the World Championship, and has been doing a lot of training work in the swimming pool in a bid to aid the recovery of the affected area.

`Swimming is currently the best thing for Marco, because he can exercise the muscles and tendons without forcing the leg too hard. The worry is knowing just how much the injury might affect him at a circuit like Le Mans, where there are a lot of quick gear changes, obviously the left ankle is vital for this and it won´t be 100 percent. We´ll have to wait until the first training sessions to see just how it stands up to the test´, explained a member of the Italian team.
