Vincent provides another demonstration of his early form

French rider Arnaud Vincent took provisional pole in the 125 class, having posted the best time in the first qualifying session for Sunday´s Polini Grand Prix de France, snatching first place from Manuel Poggiali at the last. Indeed the final 10 minutes of the session developed into a personal battle between the Frenchman and the World Champion.

Vincent went to the top of the sheets after 25 minutes, and continued to better his times stretching his advantage over his rivals to just under a second. Poggiali finally reacted in the last 5 minutes, and after closing in on Vincent, went quickest with his final lap. However the current championship leader was still out on the track, and with his final effort he took back top spot.

Alex de Angelis and Simone Sanna completed the provisional front row, whilst the best placed Spaniard was Angel Rodriguez in eighth position.
