Mick Doohan pleased to see the `right result´ in Le Mans

It is a bit of a shame that the rain came down and interrupted the race but to be honest I don´t think it altered the outcome and it was probably the right result. Valentino Rossi was very cautious through the first stages of the race and I think his lap times showed that he was not too comfortable with the track conditions. Biaggi took advantage of that and so he should because he had nothing to lose, whilst on the other side of the coin Valentino was just focused on picking up some valuable Championship points.

From that point on I think Valentino read the race right, allowing Ukawa and Biaggi to set the pace without letting them escape and then closing up on them just at the right time to take the lead before the race was stopped. It wasn´t the most exciting race we´ve seen so far this season but it was certainly interesting. I watched the 250 race this week and was disappointed to see my fellow Australian Casey Stoner crash out. Casey has shown that he is a very fast guy, and the next step for him is to learn to understand the bike.
