Manuel Poggiali: ´Still too early to talk about title favourites´

The result of the Gran Premio Cinzano d´Italia, the fifth round of the season which took place just over a week ago in Mugello, saw the championship table regain a familiar look in the 125 class, as the reigning World Champion, Manuel Poggiali, moved ominously back to the top of the standings.

Speaking of the season's next race in Barcelona, Poggiali confirmed he had no set plan for the Gran Premi Marlboro de Catalunya, apart from ´giving my best as always´. The Gilera rider stated, ´It´s a good track, although sometimes you can see when the Formula One cars have been using it because there are some holes. At the IRTA tests there in pre-season we got some good results, but overall I think it will be a circuit which favours the Aprilia bikes more.´

The 19 year-old doesn´t believe that much has changed in the Championship despite his last win, although he is glad to be back at the top of the standings. ´In reality I only have a one point lead over the second placed rider, but I have managed to make up the 18 deficit now.´ Additionally, Poggiali doesn´t see any one rider as the principal challenger to his crown, admitting; ´I see all the riders in the field as possible rivals´. Indeed the San Marino youngster wouldn´t be drawn on the state of championship play, concluding that, ´it is still too early to be making any predictions or drawing any conclusions yet.´
