Alex Crivillé bids farewell to the fans at the Circuit of Catalunya

Former 500cc World Champion, Alex Crivillé bade farewell to his adoring home fans at the Circuit of Catalunya after completing two separate laps of honour. Once Sunday´s MotoGP warm-up session had finished, the Spaniard donned his leathers and helmet to board his Honda NSR500 with which he won the world title in 1999. Crivillé covered two laps of the track, the first at a good pace and the second acknowledging the massed crowds who turned out for the Gran Premi Marlboro de Catalunya.

Crivillé is now to keep his World Championship winning bike having being presented with it by HRC, the second commemorative gesture of the weekend after a plaque of the Seva-born rider had been unveiled in the new ´Avenue of Champions´ at the circuit.

Crivillé said a second farewell to the crowds in Catalunya, after completing a further lap of honour in an open-topped car just before the MotoGP race got underway. At the end of the lap, Crivillé climbed onto the podium to receive a medal from President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Jordi Puyol.
