Pedrosa clinches provisional pole as Kallio shines to take fourth

Dani Pedrosa followed on from being fastest in this morning´s free practice by going quickest quickest in the first 125 qualifying session. The young Spaniard ended qualifying three tenths of a second up on Cecchinello and De Angelis who completed a good days work for their team, while Mika Kallio excelled himself to take an impressive fourth. Pedrosa moved into top spot with nine minutes having elapsed, and then did so again with fifteen remaining after having lost his advantage to Cecchinello and Borsoi.

Poggiali, who had been the first rider to show in the session, fell as low as twentieth on the time sheets, but made up ground in the final ten minutes to finish sixth, behind Arnaud Vincent, and just ahead of Rodríguez y Jenkner.

The session began with the threat of rain looming large, but fortunately the weather took a turn for the better and the sun came out over Assen allowing the riders a dry track throughout.
