Aprilia takes the World Constructors Championship lead

After the half mark of the season, Italian maker Aprilia is leading the 125 Constructors´ World Championship, by 18 points over Gilera. Aprilia success relies on a wide range of riders able to score points while Gilera´s main scorer is Manuel Poggiali.

Poggiali won three races so far, and he has also clinched two second places and two third places. He failed to score points on only one occasion : in Jerez, as he has been disqualified after being involved in Alex de Angelis´ crash in the late stages of the race, as the two riders where fighting for a podium finish. Aprilia has claimed two wins with Vincent, two more wins with Cecchinello, but also a second and a fourth places with the Frenchman and third places with Pablo Nieto and Steve Jenkner.

Honda lies in third, 4 points behind Gilera. Seven out of the eight best results of the Japanese constructor were scored by Spaniard Dani Pedrosa, while the eighth was clinched by Mirko Giansanti in Suzuka.
