Lucio Cecchinello clinches third win in Brno

Lucio Cecchinello managed to take his third victory of the year in Brno, in an action-packed race. The Italian took the advantage over Arnaud Vincent, who eventually finished in third behind Pedrosa. With this podium finish, the French rider made up ground on Poggiali : the San Marinese classified fifth, and his championship lead over Vincent is now down to only two points.

As soon as the second lap, a group of eight riders fighting for the first position was formed. Olivé and Pablo Nieto crashed out on the seventh and eighth laps, then on the next lap, Barbéra and Jenkner joined the leading group. The German rider remained at the back of this pack, while Barbéra managed to make his way through the front runners to take the first position with four laps to go.

Manuel Poggiali did a patient race, but he wasn´t able to close on the front runners during the last laps. Cecchinello made his race-winning move on the last lap, and Pedrosa undertook Vincent in the last section of the track. Barbéra took the chequered flag in fourth, ahead of Poggiali, Jenkner and Sanna. The poleman, Alex de Angelis classified in eighth.
