Dani Pedrosa on his performance after the Marlboro Grand Prix of Portugal

The Grand Prix held last weekend on the Portuguese Estoril track ended the ´European season´ and appeared to be an important milestone in the battle for the 125 crown. Two of the top three main contenders for the Championship, Dani Pedrosa and Manuel Poggiali, struggled in adverse conditions and crashed out, and Arnaud Vincent made the most of it to come back in the lead of the Championship. However, the Telefonica Movistar Junior Team rider managed to recover and to cross the line in tenth. By doing so, he made up ground behind Poggiali, but the new leader, Vincent, is now 28 points above him. The Catalan shared his thoughts with motograndprix.com after a tough weekend.

´What can I say ? Obviously, I would have get a far better result if I didn´t crash, but... that kind of things happens. I don´t really know how I crashed, as I wasn´t pushing very hard´ explains Pedrosa. ´The bike went sideways, in the exit of a corner. In the crash, the brake was bent and the throttle remained wide open. Then, I just tried to finish the race and grab a couple of points. What happened to me on Sunday may happen to others the next time. I´m not discouraged, I just have to do better in the next races´.

Pedrosa has a pretty straightforward approach for the last stages of the season : ´Does the battle for the title get more complicated ? I don´t know, we´ll see. Now, I have to do my best in every Grand Prix, and make up as much ground as possible every time´.

Concerning the competition, he remains laconic : ´Poggiali, like me, will try to come back, I guess, while Vincent will have to defend his lead and to avoid mistakes´.
