Giampiero Sacchi on Poggiali´s chances

Giampiero Sacchi on Poggiali´s chances

I just arrived in Rio ; I previously left Spain to go in Italy, where I had a meeting with two of our sponsors. Last year, Manuel Poggiali was the leader when we arrived in Brazil, and he clinched the title there. This year, things are different : Rio GP isn´t the final race of the season, but it´s the beginning of the last part of the season. There are still five more races to go and a lot of points to be scored.

I´ve been asked if Manuel will react in Brazil. I believe he already did : in Brno, he finished in fifth after lapping half a second faster than last year. It proves the bike keeps improving. In Portugal, he crashed out when he was in contention for victory. I must stress the bike is very quick in the dry, that´s important for us. We can see things under different light, but I stick with this interpretation. $$$

Concerning the standings, Vincent managed to get a comfortable lead, but there are still five races to go and three of them will be held in a fortnight´s time. As always, it will be a tough battle, but we have chances to retain the title. The key of the Championship could be theses three races in a row, there will be a peculiar pressure. The Championship is very open, like last year at the same time. Back then, Elias was leading Poggiali by 13 points. Vincent has now a 23 points lead, and Pedrosa could interfere in the battle.

My only concern about Manuel is the fact that he hasn´t made any choice for the next season yet. I would have liked it to be sorted earlier, as it could bother him, in terms of concentration. Anyway, there´s a good spirit within the team and we really want to retain the title.
