Mick Doohan discusses qualifying in Rio and other MotoGP news

What a great qualifying session today and some excellent performances from a whole group of riders. Max Biaggi is starting to show some really consistent form and did well at a track which he doesn´t particularly like, but Rossi looked like he was concentrating on his set-up and I think it will be a very good race tomorrow. McWilliams set the fastest ever lap here by a two-stroke, which is an outstanding achievement, and personally I am delighted to see Garry McCoy back to his best form.

A lot of talk in the paddock as been around matters off the track, and I was interested to see that Max Biaggi has signed to ride a Honda again next year. Unfortunately for Max his choice of machine is not going to make much difference to his results, because there is one man he will still have to beat and frankly I can´t see it happening too often. Nicky Hayden was revealed as a MotoGP rider earlier this week, and I think it is great for the sport that such an immense talent will be taking part. In Valentino Rossi he will have someone to take the responsibility of putting results on the board for HRC, and Nicky can concentrate on learning as much as possible about Grand Prix racing. With HRC, he could be in no better place to do so.
