Poggiali dominates final qualifying in Brazil

Manuel Poggiali was an immovable object at the top of the 125cc time sheets this afternoon as he maintained pole position with a dominant display. The Gilera rider came under pressure from title rival Arnaud Vincent and surprise package Gabor Talmacsi, but he continually improved his time throughout the session to keep the hunters at bay. Four minutes from the end of the session the World Champion put himself out of reach with a circuit best lap of 1´57.888.

Arnaud Vincent posted a late fast lap to eventually dislodge Talmacsi for second, but third place is still a best ever grid position for the Hungarian who will make his first appearance on the front row tomorrow. Alex De Angelis leapfrogged his team manager Lucio Cecchinello into fourth place to relegate the Italian veteran to a second row which also features Steve Jenkner, Pablo Nieto and Daniel Pedrosa.
