Repsol Honda one step closer to the teams title

Repsol Honda rider Valentino Rossi clinched the MotoGP World Champion title after winning his tenth Grand Prix of the season, last weekend in Rio. This victory also allowed his team to increase its lead in the Teams Championship. For the third time this year, the Repsol Honda team could only rely on Rossi after Ukawa crashed in the early stages of the race.

Repsol Honda scored 25 points and its nearest rival, Marlboro Yamaha added 20 points to its tally with Biaggi classified in second. The West Honda Pons team scored 24 points with Barros and Capirossi. The Repsol Honda team now has a 146 points lead over the Marlboro Yamaha team. The West Honda Pons team lies in third, 70 points behind the tuning fork company official team.
