Jorge Lorenzo continues his World Championship education

Jorge Lorenzo has made continuous progress in the 125cc World Championship this year, establishing himself amongst the best young riders ever to have graced the competition. Seventh place in the Cinzano Rio Grand Prix last weekend makes him the second youngest ever to make the top ten, with first place in this particular listing still held by Venezuelan star Ivan Palazzese.

Now aged 15 years and 5 months, Lorenzo made his debut at round three of this year´s campaign having only made the minimum age limit on the final day of qualifying. So far he has scored points in three of the ten races he has contested, with thirteenth at Donington and fourteenth at Catalunya adding to his excellent result in Brazil.

The Spanish youngster now wants to consolidate his season in these tricky final rounds: ´In Brazil I took my best ever result and I want to improve on it again before the end of the season. In the three flyaway races I will have a problem because I don´t know the tracks, but I am getting used to that situation now and it is a little easier because I am finding out the secrets of setting the bike up. In Motegi it will be extra hard because the Japanese wildcards are usually competitive, but I will go out there and give it everything and hope for a return which is at least as good as that in Rio´.
