Shuhei Aoyama seeks another opportunity with a fifth wild-card ride

A wildcard ride can allow a rider to display his talent among the best riders in the world. Previous records show that the Japanese riders were the ones who made the most of their wildcards. This weekend at Motegi, Shuhei Aoyama will be one of the Japanese wildcards to watch.

The Japanese youngster will take part in his fifth World Championship Grand Prix. The 18-year-old rider may be the youngest Japanese wildcard this weekend, but it doesn´t mean he lacks experience. This year, he already raced in Suzuka, Assen and Donington. In Japan, he was the first Japanese wildcard with 6th position. Later, he rode for the first time in Europe, as a substitute to the injured Klaus Nohles. In Assen, he finished 25th, and in Donington, 10th. $$$ This weekend, Shuhei will try to improve his record at the Twin Ring Motegi, where his first GP appearance was ended by a first lap crash in 2001. ´This time, I´ll race for the Showa Denki team´ said Shuhei. ´I´m really eager to demonstrate my skills in front of the Japanese fans, and forget about last year race. I´ll try to get among the front runners, and maybe fight for the podium´. He hopes this race will allow him to follow the footsteps of former World Champion Kazuto Sakata : ´There´s still one round to go in the Japanese Championship. I don´t know where I´ll be next year, but my goal is to succeed in the World Championship like Sakata, my favourite rider´.
