Stoner goes for a spin with the Roulettes

On the occasion of his 17th birthday today, Australia's GP hope Casey Stoner took to the skies with the Royal Australian Air Force aerobatic and formation flying team in Melbourne. `The Roulettes´, as they are known, took the teenage sensation on a journey down to Phillip Island to perform a routine over the circuit on which the 250cc rider will race for only the second time in his career, after having made a wildcard entry there in 125 last year.

Before setting off the youngster was nervous but very excited by the ride with the trio of planes, and was kitted out in full gear, including a pressurised flying suit which protected him from the G-force experienced when doing some of the more daring tricks. When he returned however, he was slightly paler then when he went up, as he explained, `Conditions were a little `lumpy ´apparently today, and though it was fantastic when we were over Phillip Island, when I got back to Essendon Airport I felt a little worse for wear, but managed to get through it okay. Once on solid ground I can say that it was one of the best things I have ever done, the pilots who are so skilled, and if I had the chance, I´d jump at it to do it again. Maybe I´ll become a pilot after being a rider!´.
