No horsing around for Garry McCoy as he focuses on his home race

Australian Garry McCoy is preparing for his home Grand Prix at Phillip Island with the help of his sister Leanne… and her horse! The apprentice jockey has had similar luck to her brother this year, breaking two vertebrae whilst the Yamaha rider struggled to recover his form after snapping his tibia and fibula in pre-season. However, Garry is now hoping the support of his friends and family can drive him on to a positive result in the penultimate round of the season.

`I will be doing my best for the home fans this weekend,´ says the 30 year old. `It feels good to be home, but unfortunately I don´t think I am really on the right machinery to be doing the business. We will see what happens – there is not much I can do about it but I´ll go out and do what I can.´

McCoy lies 20th in the championship after a disappointing season tainted by his injury problems and lack of form. `The season has really been one to forget,´ he continues. `Not only has the injury taken up a lot of my time, but the four-strokes have continued to develop throughout, making it harder to get results as the season has gone on. Next year I don´t know what will be happening yet. I need to be on a four-stroke. Basically I just want a good bike, a good team and that will be enough.´
