Vincent clings to Championship lead

The 125cc World Championship could have took a critical turn of events after the three flyaway races. Arnaud Vincent still leads over Manuel Poggiali, but his initial twenty-seven points lead was reduced to eight points by the defending World Champion in the last three races.

In Motegi, Vincent only finished fifteenth after a broken exhaust pipe prevented him to take second. The next week in Malaysia, he won ahead of Lucio Cecchinello and Daniel Pedrosa, but a chequered flag error allowed him to score the thirteen points of the fourth place... the position in which he was standing on the penultimate lap, before crashing in the last corner. Last weekend race, in Phillip Island, only added to the Frenchman frustration who could have clinched the title there : unable to fight for the win, he could only take fourth while Poggiali was back on the first step of the podium for the first time since June. $$$ Poggiali´s victory in Australian leaves the Championship wide open, but Vincent remains more upbeat than ever. ´I think it will be even harder in Valencia, as there will be a whole bunch of Spaniard riding at home´ explains the Frenchman. ´I have never finished on the podium there, but whatever the track is, I know I can be up there if the bike is ok´.
