Porto and Elias set to fight for fourth place in Valencia

Argentinean Sebastian Porto and spaniard Toni Elias are tied in points : both have scored 172 so far and will fight for 4th position in the World Championship standings next week in Valence, where will be held the last round of the season, the Gran Premio Marlboro de la Communitat Valenciana. Fourth place is still up for grabs, whereas Marco Melandri, Fonsi Nieto and Roberto Rolfo have already secured the top 3 positions. Behind Porto and Elias, Franco Battaini lies in sixth, but a 30 points gap means he won´t be able to take a better result.

This year, Sebastian Porto made his 100th GP appearance in the quarter litre class. He scored his first points back in 1995, when he was 17. This year, he became one of the top riders of the class as he finally broke his duck in Brazil, and took others podium finish (a second and three third places). Spaniard youngster Toni Elias clinched his maiden win on his rookie year, and can add to this victory two second and two third places. The fourth place of the Championship will be determined in Valencia and if Porto beats Elias, it would be his best result in the class, as he never has finished higher than ninth (1999 and 2000), while Elias is already the ´Rookie of the Year´.
