Roberto Rolfo to decide his future in Valencia

Roberto Rolfo to decide his future in Valencia

With one race to go of the current season I think I can look back and say that I am satisfied with how things have gone. We started out at the beginning of the year with the same technical data as the previous season and we had to work extremely hard to achieve a positive result. I began the process of adapting myself to the bike, whilst the team had the job of adapting the bike to me, trying to mould it to my bigger dimensions after it had previously been ridden by Daijiro Kato. Finally we were able to reach a consistent level and this allowed us to move up to a final position of third. I could probably have hoped for even better when I think of the missed opportunities when I could have taken victory or at least a podium.

Looking towards the future I can only say for definite which category I will be riding in. I will be staying in 250, although I am not 100% sure about which bike I will be riding or in what team. I am currently in discussions with Honda and Aprilia and I think a decision will be made at Valencia this weekend.

Valencia is a track which I don´t particularly like, although the information we have gathered during the year should allow me to challenge for a top result. I am very motivated to finish the 2002 campaign in the best possible way and take a victory both myself and the team have dreamed of all season. It is just what we need – a win to write the final chapter in the 2002 World Championship.
