Nicky Hayden eager for MotoGP debut

The next MotoGP season will bring a lot of new faces in the paddock and Nicky Hayden will be one of the riders to watch. The 21-year-old from Owensboro, Kentucky, dominated this year´s AMA Superbike to become the youngest Champion in the American premier class. Next year, he will take part in the MotoGP World Championship, aboard a factory Honda RC211V.

In Valencia, venue of the final Grand Prix of the season, Hayden had his first taste of MotoGP, as he visited the paddock and met his new team in action. ´It´s a lot more professional [than AMA],´ he said. `The tracks are much better than most of the tracks we have in the USA, much safer. I´m just blown away by how cool it is!´. $$$ The switch from AMA Superbike to MotoGP will be a tough challenge, as Hayden explained. ´It´s definitively going to be a big adjustment for me, but I´m really looking forward to it. It´s gonna be a big challenge, there are a lot of great riders, I´ll have to learn all the tracks and get used to new tyres´.

Hayden is now set for a busy winter, as he will soon begin to test the Honda RC211V. ´It´s an opportunity I´ve been waiting for for a long time. It has always been my dream, my goal. Honda have given me a great opportunity - during the last two years, they´ve been really good to me. I can´t wait to test the bike, but I have to take the steps´.

MotoGP, 2002, Nicky Hayden
