Stigefelt back in Grand Prix with Aprilia

Johan Stigefelt will return to Grand Prix racing in 2003 after signing to ride for the UGT team in the 250cc World Championship. The Swedish rider, who last rode in MotoGP with Sabre Sport in the 500 class in 2001, will ride an Aprilia alongside Anthony West in the Abruzzo team, which will employ the technical staff and machinery used by Roberto Locatelli in 2002. The new line-up, which is headed by revered chief mechanic Mauro Nocciolo, tested in Jerez this week, and hope to complete further work at the Valencia circuit on the 16th and 17th December.

`This is a dream return to Grand Prix for me,´ said Stigefelt. `It was frustrating missing out last season but now I am determined to make up for lost time. With an Aprilia 250 it is important to have good technical support and with Mauro Noccioli I couldn´t ask for better because he won the 250 title with Valentino Rossi. I think both myself and Anthony will be very competitive next season´.
