Chaz Davies steps up to 250 for 2003

Chaz Davies will become one of the youngest 250cc riders in Grand Prix history when he steps up to the quarter-litre class for 2003. The British teenager has signed to ride as team-mate to Dirk Heidolf with the Aprilia Germany set-up run by Dieter Stappert, having clinched a one year deal on the back of some consistent performances in his 125cc rookie season in 2002.

`This is a perfect Christmas present,´ said Davies, who doesn´t turn 16 until February. `I am both excited and anxious to get on the bike for the first test in the New Year. We are looking at possible tests down at Jerez in mid-January and hoping to get about eight to ten days on the bike in total before the start of the season. It is obviously a huge challenge for me but this is a very experienced team and I cannot wait to work with them. It will be a steep learning curve but I am ready´.
