Aprilia complete Valencia tests

Aprilia´s MotoGP squad today completed their second and final day of testing at the Circuito de la Comunidad Valenciana Ricardo Tormo in Spain. Colin Edwards and Noriyuki Haga continued set-up work on the RS3 cube, with the Japanese rider having missed the previous session at Jerez after returning to his native country to get married.

Edwards was once again the quickest of the two riders with a best lap of 1.34.5, just a second off the pole time set by Max Biaggi at the final Grand Prix of the 2002 season. Haga was one and a half seconds slower than the American.

Spanish pair Fonsi Nieto and Toni Elías were also on track with their 250cc Aprilias for the first time since the end of the season after a one month break $$$ The main change to the Italian manufacturer´s quarter-litre machine was a new chassis and Elías made the best use of it with a lap of 1.37.5 – 1.7 seconds quicker than his team-mate, who concentrated on set-up. A few drops of rain led to a crash for Elías, but the youngster escaped without injury.

Daniel Pedrosa ran up 500 kilometres in his first test of the off-season, although he will not receive any new material for his Honda until the New Year. The Spanish teenager clocked a best lap of 1.41.5, one tenth quicker than compatriot Pablo Nieto on the Aprilia and half a second faster than Hector Barberá, who was held up for most of the morning by technical problems.
