Riders for Health scores another victory in Germany

After the successful Day of Champions at Donington Park last week, motorcycle charity Riders for Health scored another success in Germany today in the build up for the Cinzano Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. MotoGP riders swapped the paddock for the football pitch in a charity game nearby to the Sachsenring circuit, where a huge crowd raised €2,500 for the organisation which enables medication to be supplied to rural communities in Africa.

MotoGP riders Max Biaggi, Alex Barros, Jeremy McWilliams and Regis Laconi provided the experience whilst emerging youngsters such as Manuel Poggiali, Pablo Nieto and Chaz Davies supplied the endeavour alongside home hero Alex Hoffman in an entertaining prelude to another weekend of intense action. $$$The victorious opposition included German sports stars past and present, such as Olympians Lars Riedel, Michael Hubner, Silke Otto and Waldemar Cierpinski.

Watching from the stands was 250 World Championship leader Marco Melandri, who was in exuberant mood as he cheered the riders from the side of the pitch sporting an afro wig.
