Jorge Lorenzo setting new objectives for 2003

Mallorcan youngster Jorge Lorenzo finished his rookie season in the 125cc World Championship in 21st spot, after becoming the youngest ever Grand Prix rider on his debut at Jerez back in May. The 15 year old has enjoyed the winter break to reflect on the experience gathered during 2002, and is now setting new objectives for 2003.

`My first season has been very positive,´ says Lorenzo, who will continue within the Derbi Racing set-up. `My crash in Malaysia towards the end of the year affected me a lot because I lost confidence, but I am over that now and I am aware that I have to work hard to be competitive from the first race in April. My mind is already very much on 2003, the new season and the chance to repay the faith which the team has shown in me. I will begin with renewed hope and I am sure that with more experience and a few more kilometres on the bike I will be competitive.´

Lorenzo will be an important part of a new structure for Derbi Racing this season, forming an exciting partnership alongside Spanish compatriot and former 125cc World Champion Emilio Alzamora.
