Sylvain Guintoli explains his adjustment and integration into the Campetella team.

Before I depart to the circuit of Jerez this week, I want to explain my feelings and sensations of returning to the saddle in the Aprilia tests that we made recently in Valencia. It had been six long months since I had ridden a bike in anger and by the end of the sessions I was starting to recover some of the confidence and speed with new 2003 kitted Aprilia that I will be riding for the Campetella team. Once again I felt the adrenaline and buzz of being on the bike and lapping the track and I was happy to tell this to my chief mechanic Christian Boudinot, who has been with me since my first season in the World Championships.

In the first laps I was feeling a little unsure. I had to get used to the 250 and the corner speed. Re-familiarising myself with the engine and the power hasn´t been easy, I was braking too late and did not have enough torque coming out of the turns. After a while the sensation of speed and the judgement started to come back. I learned a lot of things last season as a test rider for the Tech 3 team in Moto GP, but I also forgot stuff about the racing such as the pace and the rhythm. But all is not lost! I think I am sharpening my skills and the whole package is not far away!.

These last tests have allowed me to discuss a lot of things with my new team and I have leanred to work with them. The session passed without any kind of mechanical problem and confirmed that I am part of a set-up that is both friendly and professional. Now we are continuing our work in the next two tests, both official events organised by IRTA in Jerez this week and then in Estoril. Sylvain
