Youichi Ui delighted with Aprilia switch

Runner-up for consecutive seasons in 2000 and 2001, Japanese veteran Youichi Ui opted for a fresh challenge for the start of the 2003 season after breaking his allegiance to Spanish manufacturers Derbi. The pint-sized star is currently enjoying a new lease of life with Aprilia and took time out of his third test with the Sterigalda Racing team to update motograndprix.com on his progress.

`I am really pleased with my move to Aprilia,´ comments Ui, who was second fastest on the first day of the IRTA sessions at Jerez on Wednesday. `So far I feel very good on the bike and am going quick, without a doubt I´ll be aiming to get back on the podium with this team. It will take some time to get used to the new bike, the Derbi was more or less built around me, but I expect I will be fighting to win races once again, I have to, otherwise that´s it! It is a shame that the rain came while we were here in Jerez, but it did allow me to get out yesterday afternoon and get myself comfortable on this new bike. I did lots of laps while it was wet, there were only a few of us on the track, and I won't need to do any more rain practice now after having done that´.
