KTM to test in Spain next week

KTM have revealed that they plan to test their new 125cc Grand Prix machine for the first time in a behind closed doors test at an unnamed circuit in Spain. A spokesman for the Austrian factory said that both Arnaud Vincent and Roberto Locatelli will ride their new machines for the first time at the test, before moving on to another Spanish circuit to add the finishing touches to the bike they will start the 2003 season with at Suzuka on April 6th.

`The engine ran perfectly on the bench so the aim of the test is to let the riders get used to the bikes and find the right settings for things like suspension,´ said KTM Press Officer Rudi Moser. `We have two quick tests in Spain but we won´t have time for anything else as the bikes have to be taken straight back to Milan to be packed and loaded for the trip to Suzuka. The whole team are ready and really looking forward to getting started´. $$$ Meanwhile, Vincent has revealed that he is close to a full recovery from the broken ankle he sustained in a supermotard crash in January. `I am about 80% back to fitness, but I can ride a bike without any problems,´ said the Frenchman, who admitted he had been keeping one eye on the IRTA tests at Jerez and Estoril `I picked up some information about the tests but I didn´t follow them to closely to be honest. It looks like Youichi Ui is back on form and I think he will be one of the men to watch this year´.
