Aprilia MS make official presentation in San Marino

Aprilia finished the 2002 season with both the 250 and 125 World Championship titles, an achievement which speaks for itself and one which no doubt the Noale factory wish to repeat in 2003. In the quarter-litre class the vacancy left by World Champion Marco Melandri has been taken by Manuel Poggiali, who was unveiled as an official Aprilia MS rider at a ceremony in his native San Marino earlier this week.

`It is fantastic to have Poggiali in our squad on the back of his great success in the 125 class.´ commented president Ivano Beggio. `We have the pleasure of having signed a young, talented rider who is destined for many victories. We still have to make an important contribution with our technical and human resources. Jan Witteveen has brought us many world titles and we are working to improve the extraordinary RSW machine whilst Rossano Brazzi, the technical director, will look to make a young talent such as Poggiali blossom´.

The latest Aprilia prodigy himself added his delight at joining the project, but refused to confirm his preseason status as a title challenger: `During the winter we have gone very well, but there are other favourites. My objective is to do well but I am not thinking about the title. I would like to thank Aprilia, the sponsors and everybody else who has made this dream come true´.
