Kawasaki complete tyre test in Malaysia

Kawasaki Racing this weekend completed two days of tyre testing in Malaysia with Akira Yanagawa. With MotoGP riders Garry McCoy and Andrew Pitt taking a brief break ahead of the final preseason session at Suzuka next week, the Japanese test rider worked his way through a stack of new Dunlop tyres at the Johor circuit. The team enjoyed typically hot conditions, with ambient temperatures reaching 34º and the track as high as 60º.

Luckily it wasn´t too humid and that made it easier to withstand the heat,´ explained Yanagawa, who will ride as a wildcard in the first Grand Prix of the season at Suzuka. `Track conditions were much better than expected. I completed a total of 130 laps, testing the new Dunlops and on the final day with did a resistance test. I think the results are positive although it is very difficult to rate the lap times because it is so long since a GP was held here. This was our last test specifically for the tyres ahead of the race at Suzuka. It was important to confirm that we are working in the right direction and have adequate material´.

Yanagawa will join McCoy and Pitt at Suzuka on the 30th and 31st March, one week before the start of the season on April 6.
