Schwantz to ride supermoto

Kevin Schwantz is set for a return to full time professional motorcycle racing. The former 500cc World Champion retired in 1995 with an bad back, but plans to race a Suzuki DRZ400 in the AMA Red Bull Supermoto championship.

`I think supermoto is an exciting type of racing,´ said Schwantz. `Its mix of dirt and pavement draws from three different types of competition. It´s been eight years since I have competed in a full series championship, and this time I am doing it just for fun.´

Also confirmed to ride in the new series, which will consist of two classes (up to 450cc and unlimited) and will follow the same format as the AMA Supercross with five heats leading up to a main event, is former Grand Prix star Scott Russell.
