Final adjustments at Mugello for a host of Aprilia riders

Several Aprilia 125 riders were at Mugello yesterday to lap alongside their 250 counterparts and make vital last minute adjustmnents to their machines ahead of the seaosn opener on April 6. Spanish riders Pablo Nieto and Hector Barbera (Master-Aspar) were joined by Gino Borsoi and Alex de Angelis (Racing World), Alvaro Bautista and Chris Martin (Seedorf Racing), Gabor Talmacsi (WWC) and Youchi Ui (Sterilgarda Racing), amongst others.

Ui, who this year rides with Aprilia after four years as the official Derbi pilot, was once again on top form, as he has been throughout the preseason, and heads for his home country in bouyant mood. `We spent the first day finding the best set-up for the bike and we did it in one session,´ commented the Japanese veteran. `I lapped consistently in 1´59 and I got a good feeling from the bike. On the second day we focussed on the new engine but a few problems came up. We more or less sorted it out but I couldn´t do a particularly fast lap with it. Last year´s engine is still quicker than the new one but it is still not too bad. In any case, I am physically and mentally prepared for the race at Suzuka and I am going to fight for the victory´.
