Ducati make the final presentation in the heart of Tokyo prior to the race in Suzuka

The Ducati Marlboro have made their last presentation before riders Loris Capirossi and Troy Bailyss participate in the SKYY VODKA Grand Prix of Japan that kicks off the 2003 MotoGP World Championship this weekend at the Suzuka circuit. The scene was appropriate for the occasion and took place in the home of the Italian ambassador, a beautiful building with gardens including a small lake, in the middle of the city, assisted by over 300 guests.

In this historic place the Italian team entertained their hosts with their final public event before their debut season in the MotoGP Championship.

Aside from the undeniably attractive sporting side of the evening there was also another purpose served by the presentation because the industrial and commercial Japanese market is very important for Ducati. Last year they sold more than 4000 motorcycles in the country (from total 2002 sales of 40,000). Loris Capirossi answered questions and stated: ´I am ready to go for the new season and have a great feeling for this fresh challenge in my career. The bike has evolved and improved a lot over the winter and I feel very much at home working for the factory´.

For his part Bailyss had this to say about his forthcoming debut in the MotoGP category: ´Evidently I have much to learn and I know that during the season I will have to be competitive while testing at the same time. I have never raced at Suzuka and I have to say that I like the layout after the last two testing sessions we made there to end the pre-season period´.
