Wildcards rule in wet once again at Suzuka

Wildcard riders took a starring role in the 250 class, as has become customary in recent seasons at Suzuka. Last season Osamu Miyazaki and Daisuke Sakai took first and second place in the rain hit race, whilst today it was Hiroshi Aoyama and Katsuyuki Nakasuga who made their local knowledge count most in the damp and variable conditions. The Honda and Yamaha riders took the front two places on the provisional grid respectively, whilst Alex Debon and Roberto Rolfo, also on Hondas, secured the other two front row positions.

Naoki Matsudo heads the second row from Sebastian Porto, Yuki Takahashi and highest placed Aprilia rider Sylvain Guintoli. Manuel Poggiali and Toni Elias were amongst a large group of riders who failed to qualify for the provisional grid.
